About the event
We will be running a series of hands on workshops, going through all aspects of creating soft, hair off, braintan buckskin. If you are not familiar with this type of leather, you'll be amazed at the final material. This is an ancient craft, this type of tanning comes from Indigenous communities in North America, who honed and preserved the craft over millennia.
The process takes several days and in between each day there are soak times for the hides so that's why the course dates are spread out.
There are 3 parts to the course.
You'll need to select and purchase the time slots that works for you.
You'll choose one time slot each for all 3 parts.
The deerskin is labeled so that you continue to work on and finish the same deerskin (which you take home at the end).
There will likely be time and opportunity to discuss other types of tanning and potentially try out other methods.
